Abingdon & Oxford Angling Alliance (2007-08 Books now in stock)

The Alliance ticket provides a wealth of varied venues. There are stretches of the River Thames (at Sandford, Radley, Nuneham Courtenay, Clifton Hampden, Bablockhythe, Eynsham, Farmoor, Pinkhill & Duxford), which provide most river species, esp quality Bream, Chub & Pike.

AOAA stretch of the Thames The River Evenlode (at Cassington), the Cherwell (at Islip, and Holywell Meadows (Oxford)), and the River Ray all provide scenic fishing on smaller rivers, with a variety of river species being present. The permit also appeals to the carper too with two excellent stillwaters with some big fish too; Marlborough Pool (Cassington) and Dorchester Lake.

Banbury offer a dazzling amount of water inc miles & miles of the Oxford Canal from Cropredy, thru Banbury right down to Heyford. As well as the usual roach, bream, perch, chub, pike etc, the canal now boasts lots of carp, with fish over 20lb having been reported.
The club offers a number of stretches of the River Cherwell, at Aynho, Somerton, Upper Heyford, Bletchingdon & Shipton-On-Cherwell, with all the usual river species present. The club also has the popular Farnborough Pool, plus reduced day ticket fees at Grimsbury Reservoir and Spital Farm Lake in Banbury, and the same arrangement at Slinket Lake (Nell Bridge, Aynho). Banbury day tickets are also available..

Bicester & District AA

Phenomenal value for money - the Bicester club book allows you a year's fishing at Trow Pool, near Bicester, and full membership of the ODAA (see below). Trow is a small stream fed pool, with plenty of weed & features, well stocked with Carp to nearly 20lb, Crucians, Tench & Roach. The pool is well suited to youngsters and beginners, being ideally suited to float fishing & simple tactics, which can result in some excellent roach catches, often with fish of well over 1lb!

The Kidlington club card represents outstanding value for money. The club offers oustanding fishing on the River Cherwell, miles of the Oxford Canal through Kidlington, and membership of the ODAA (see below). The Cherwell at both Thrupp and Kidlington offers a whole variety of swims which will appeal to the river angler, such as overhanging trees, weirs, bridges, sweeping bends etc. The club's waters offer specimen chub, perch & carp amongst others!

The club to join for those that wish to target Catfish! LBAC membership offers fishing at three cracking stillwaters in Bedfordshire. The famous Claydon Middle lake is one of the original UK Cat waters, stocked with Catfish over 30 years ago, but it also holds quality Bream & Carp.
The Scenic wooded Rackley Hills Lake has produced a Catfish of 46lb in recent years, whilst Tiddenfoot pit holds Cats to over 30lb. Both waters also hold specimen sized Carp, and its possible to night fish both waters with an additional night permit. LBAC also boast a number of lengths on the River Ouzel, and quality fishing on the Grand Union Canal. There is also a full calendar of matches.

Buckingham & District AA

Buckingham's best known waters are probably the Hyde Lane lakes, which offer excellent carp (to 39lb!), tench (to 9lb+) & pike (to 27lb+), with fishing over 26 acres. Woodfields Lake is a purpose built coarse fishery which is especially suitable for children & disabled anglers. The club's several miles of the Great Ouse are famous for specimen perch, for example the club record is an enormous 4lb 13oz from the Twins stretch!

Newlands' Heyford Lakes & States Lagoon complex has a fine reputation not only as a specimen carp fishery, but as a safe, pretty venue with easy parking. All these stillwaters are open right thru the close season for tench, carp, bream, perch, roach, pike fishing etc. There is a £30 night fishing supplement to be paid by carp anglers wishing to fish overnight sessions (also available from us).

The River Windrush The club also has a very long stretch of the beautiful River Windrush, famed for its Roach, Chub & Dace fishing, but also offering Barbel, Trout, Perch & Pike.

The Windrush is famous for the specimen fish it has produced regularly over the years.

North Oxford Angling Society

This famous old Society controls some excellent river fishing in the Oxford area, namely the Thames above Oxford, from Carrots Ham to Kings Weir, plus the Seacourt Stream in the Wytham & Botley area. In addition, the Society offers a number of meadows on the popular section of the River Cherwell at Marston, plus a very long section of the Oxford Canal, from Hythe Bridge Street in the city, right up to Bullers Bridge in Kidlington. Dukes Lake, just north of Oxford, is a mature gravel pit offering all the usual species, inc good quality tench fishing.

An added bonus is that NOAS members can fish all the Milton Keynes waters for free! This includes the Grand Union Canal, Rivers Great Ouse, Tove & Ouzel, plus a whole host of stillwaters...great value.

Oxford & District Anglers Association (or ODAA)

ODAA membership provides over 5 prime miles of the Thames at Oxford, over a mile of the River Cherwell, and over 6 miles of the Oxford Canal, and membership is automatic when you join clubs such as Bicester or Kidlington AS! With Bicester membership costing only £15 per season, it is absolutely extraordinary value, not least since the Thames regularly produces 6lb plus Chub, 20lb plus Pike & Carp, and the odd double-figure barbel!

Kirtlington Manor Lake - £8 per day

The perfect old estate lake! The lake is set in stunning peaceful scenery just a short drive from Bicester, with rafts of flowering lilies, mature willow trees, reed beds and wooden landing stages. Typically shallow, the lake offers Carp to over 20lb, excellent Tench and Bream fishing, and also has plenty of Roach, Rudd, Perch & Pike. Tickets must be purchased from J&K prior to fishing ONLY. No night fishing.
